Description: human Burkitt's lymphoma established from the Burkitt's lymphoma (left orbital biopsy) of a 16-year-old African boy in 1967; cells were described to be EBV-positive and to express mRNA for proto-oncogene bcl-2; this cell line has been assigned by the ZKBS (German Central Commission for Biological Safety) to risk category 2 confirmed as human with IEF of AST, NP, PEP B

90% RPMI 1640 + 10% FBS maintain at 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml; split ratio 1:2 to 1:4 every 2-4 days; cells may grow slowly initially; cell culture may be started in 24-well-plates and later transfered to flasks; seed out at ca. 0.5-1 x 106 cells/ml at 37C with 5% CO2 maximal density at about 1.7 x 106 cells/ml; doubling time of about 30 hours; frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 5 x 106 cells/ampoule; contamination was eliminated with Mycoplasma Removal Agent, then negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization, PCR assays;
