EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37C.
Passages: 260;
Karyotype: Modal No 70
One of the first cell lines to be derived from non-malignant tissue. Used in virology, biochemistry and transplantation related to malignancy. Cells tend to pile up in cultures with high population density. This cell line was found to have a HeLa profile by DNA fingerprinting.
Research council deposit: No;
Price Code: B;
Validated by: isoenzymes (species confirmation)
