PC-12 (rat, adrenal, pheochromocytoma)

SPECIES: rat
TISSUE/ORGAN: adrenal
TUMOR: pheochromocytoma

DSMZ catalog code: ACC 159
Morphology: small cells growing in clumps in suspension, adhering poorly to plastic
Description: rat adrenal pheochromocytoma established from a transplantable rat adrenal pheochromocytoma in 1976; cells were described to synthesize catecholamines (dopamine, norepinephrine); in response to nerve growth factor (NGF) a neuronal phenotype could be induced reversibly confirmed as rat with IEF of AST, MDH, NP, PEP B
Viruses: ELISA: reverse transcriptase negative
Depositor: obtained from ATCC (CRL 1721), Rockville, Maryland, USA
General Restrictions

Available in the following LABORATORY:

Availability in cell line catalogues: ATCC: CRL 1721, ECACC: 88022401, ICLC: ATL98004, IZSBS: BS TCL 91
