Molecular Probe Data Base

The Molecular Probe Data Base (MPDB) contains information on synthetic oligonucleotides with a sequence of up to 100 nucleotides. Data are mainly taken from the literature and are encoded on the basis of controlled vocabularies.
MPDB is searchable through the following SRS server (where it is called MOLPROBE):

MOLPROBE flat file and the configuration files which are requested for installing it in an SRS implementation are available on request.

Typology

  • ca. 4300 oligonucleotides
  • 821 different genes, of which 691 human and 112 viral
  • ca. 3536 oligonucleotides are human gene specific
  • ca. 620 oligonucleotides are viral gene specific

Applications

  • 1944 genetic polymorphisms
  • 834 human inherited disease diagnosis
  • 517 cancer diagnosis
  • 40 autoimmune disease diagnosis
  • 72 neurologic disease diagnosis
  • 517 infectious disease diagnosis

Contents
The most relevant data refer to:

  • Identification (name, typology and nucleotide sequence)
  • Target gene (name, HGM code, map location, EMBL accession number, allelic variants recognized)
  • Applications
  • Methods (PCR amplimers, RTPCR primers, DGGE analysis etc.)
  • Retrieval sources (bibliographic references, distributors, catalogue codes,...)
