Fibroblast collection from patients affected with familial hypercholesterolemia and other metabolic disorders

Skin fibroblasts from a series of patients affected by Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) have been collected in the last few years. The following assays are routinely performed on these cells: a) LDL-receptor function; b) Northern blot; analysis of synthesis and intracellular processing of LDL-receptor proteins. From each FH cell line, DNA is also available. Furthermore, dermal fibroblasts from a series of connective disorders, both heritable and acquired, have been collected, from biopsies of the forearm skin or from the affected areas. In all cases, samples were examined by optical and electron microscopy.
