90% Grace's Insect (Modified) Medium + 10% FBS cells are difficult to culture! split cultures 1:2 every 2-3 days (cells grow partly adherent, but trypsin is not necessary); maintain at room temperature (about 20C) without CO2 exposure (keep lid of flask closed); confluent cultures can be stored at 4C for up to one week without loss of viability; after thawing cells might have a lag phase of up to 4 weeks at 20C (room temperature) without CO2 (keep lid of flask closed) about 5-7 x 106 cells/80 cm 2; frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 2 x 106 cells/ampoule; negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization assays;
Validated by: isoenzymes (confirmed to be not of murine or primate origin with IEF of AST, PEP B)
