Morphology: adherent epitheloid cells growing in monolayers
Description: human cervix carcinoma (derivative of HELA) these cells were thought to be 'established from the malignant urinary bladder carcinoma of a 82-year-old Caucasian woman (stage pTa G1-G2) in 1992'; same donor as for cell line SBC-2 (DSM ACC 228); however, DNA fingerprinting and cytogenetic analysis at the DSMZ established unequivocally that this cell line must be considered de facto a subclone of HELA confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH

doubling time of about 15-17 hours;
frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 2 x 106 cells/ampoule;
contamination was eliminated with Baytril (enrofloxacin), then negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization assays;
