This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
TUMOR: carcinoma, squamous cell
DSMZ catalog code: ACC 187
Morphology: adherent, epithelial-like cells growing as monolayer
Description: human vulva squamous cell carcinoma established from the primary lesion resected from a 76-year-old woman with bulky, moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva in 1984; cells were reported to express an elevated number of high affinity EGF receptors, to carry gene amplification at 11q13 and to be tumorigenic in nude mice confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH
Viruses: ELISA: reverse transcriptase negative; PCR: EBV-, HCV-, HHV-8-, HIV-, HTLV-I/II-
Depositor: Dr. J. Gioanni, Centre Antoine Lacassagne, Nice, France
Available in the following LABORATORY:
German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ, Braunschweig)
80% Dulbecco's MEM + 20% FBS + 2 mM L-glutamine + 1 mM sodium pyruvate + 0.5 nM hydrocortisone + 1 ęg/100 ml EGF cells are difficult to culture! split confluent culture 1:2 to 1:4 every 5-10 days using trypsin/EDTA (cells are sensitive to over-trypsination) at 37C with 5% CO2 cell harvest of about 0.8 x 105 cells/cm 2;
doubling time of about 50-70 hours;
frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 0.75-1.5 x 106 cells/ampoule;
negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization assays;
Validated by: cytogenetics 1 (apparently human karyotype) * DNA fingerprinting (unique DNA profile with (gtg)5 multilocus probe) * immunological analysis (cytokeratin+ (100%) desmin- endothel- GFAP- neurofilament- vimentin-) * isoenzymes (confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH) * reverse transcriptase (reverse transcriptase not detected)
