This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
IZSBS catalog code: TCL 130
Continuous culture, grown as monolayer
SPECIES: rat Karyology: unknown
TISSUE/ORGAN: thyroid, medullary
DEPOSITOR: obtained from ATCC
PROPERTIES: secreting peptides (neurotensin and calcitonin)
Available in the following LABORATORY:
- Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Lombardia e dell'Emilia Romagna (IZSBS, Brescia)
DMEM (4.5 g/l glucose) + 10% HS ; Freezing medium: Culture medium + 10% DMSO; 37C, 5% CO2, mycoplasma negative, culture
It is of C-cell origin derived from the non-clonal line rMTC 6-23; producing neurotensin and calcitonin after stimulation by calcium, KCl, glucagon and catecholamines. Cell adhesion must be improved by using flasks coated with collagen type IV.
