Joklik's MEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Horse Serum (HS). Maintain cultures between 5x10,000 to 5x100,000 cells/ml in a Techne stirrer 5% CO2; 37C. Cell doubling time is 30 hours.
Adapted for growth in suspension by passaging 293 cells (ECACC No. 85120602) in nude mice. The cells express adenovirus 5 early region 1(E1) antigens and is permissive for adenovirus 5 host range mutants defective in E1 functions.
