This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).

ECACC catalog code: 87022501
Description: Mouse BALB/c fibrosarcoma
Viruses: See Properties
Depositor: Dr A Harris, Molecular Biology Unit, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Melbourne, AUSTRALIA
No restrictions. Patent: None Specified By Depositor
Properties: Applications: Tumourigenicity and cytotoxicity studies, chromium release assays
Available in the following LABORATORY:
Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37C.
Established from a fibrosarcoma induced by subcutaneous injection of methylcholanthrene in BALB/c mice. Highly sensitive after pre-treatment with actinomycin D to human cytotoxic monocytes, to tumour necrosis factor and to lymphotoxin. It provides convenient target cells for short-term (51) chromium release assays.
