This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).

Available in the following LABORATORY:
Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
Ham's F12 + DMEM (1:1) + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Horse Serum (HS) + 2.5% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:5 to 1:200 i.e. seeding at 1x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37ēC.
Originated from primary cultures of Leydig cell enriched preparations from normal testes of 11-13 day old BALB/C nu/+ mice. Characteristics similar to primary cultures of Leydig cells. Responds to leuteinising hormone but not FSH. In the presence of LH the cells are capable of metabolising cholesterol. These cells are non-tumourigenic.
