Description: human chronic myeloid leukemia in blast crisis (derivative of K-562) allegedly derived 'from the peripheral blood of a 10-year-old girl with T-ALL in relapse in 1980'; but DNA fingerprinting showed cross-contamination with K-562; K-562 was established from the pleural effusion of a 53-year-old woman with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in blast crisis in 1970; SPI-802 cells express and produce hemoglobins (quantitatively and qualitatively different from those of K-562 cells) confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH, NP

contamination was eliminated with BM-Cyclin (tiamulin & minocycline), then negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization assays;
