This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
SPECIES: human, Caucasian
DSMZ catalog code: ACC 164
Morphology: cell shape is bipolar, cells growing as monolayer or forming foci
Description: human neuroblastoma established from the adrenal tumor tissue resected after treatment from a 20-month-old boy of European origin with neuroblastoma (stage III) in 1991 confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH
Viruses: ELISA: reverse transcriptase negative; PCR: EBV-, HBV-, HCV-, HHV-8-, HIV-, HTLV-I/II-
Depositor: Dr. P. Marini, Neuklinikum Schnarrenberg, Tuebingen, Germany
Available in the following LABORATORY:
German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ, Braunschweig)
90% RPMI 1640 + 10% FBS + 2 mM L-glutamine split confluent culture 1:3 to 1:5 every 3-6 days using trypsin/EDTA; seed out at ca. 5 x 106 cells/80 cm 2 ; cells may grow slowly initially forming non-adherent large cell aggregates at 37 C with 5% CO2 cell harvest of about 0.3-0.6 x 105 cells/cm 2;
highly variable doubling time of about 34-100 hours;
frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 5 x 106 cells/ampoule;
contamination was eliminated with Mycoplasma Removal Agent, then negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization, PCR assays;
Validated by: cytogenetics 1 (human hypotetraploid karyotype; a small number of dm present in most cells) * DNA fingerprinting (unique, heterozygous profile with pYNH24 probe) * immunological analysis (cytokeratin-, desmin-, endothel-, GFAP-, neurofilament+ (100%), vimentin+ (100%)) * isoenzymes (confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH) * reverse transcriptase (reverse transcriptase not detected)
