This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
TISSUE/ORGAN: peripheral blood
TUMOR: leukemia, T cell
DSMZ catalog code: ACC 6
Morphology: small, round cells growing mostly singly in suspension
Description: human T cell leukemia established from the peripheral blood of of a 4-year-old girl with Tcell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) in second relapse in 1977 confirmed as human with IEF of AST, NP
Viruses: ELISA: reverse transcriptase negative; PCR: EBV-, HBV-, HCV-, HIV-, HTLV-I/II-
Depositor: Dr. H. G. Drexler, DSMZ, Braunschweig, Germany
Available in the following LABORATORY:
German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ, Braunschweig)
80% RPMI 1640 + 20% FBS cells are very difficult to culture! cells grow best in 24-well-plates; maintain at ca. 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml; split saturated culture 1:2 every 2-3 days; seed out at ca. 1.0 x 106 cells/ml (culture should not be split during the first 3-4 days after thawing) at 37C with 5% CO2 saturation density at 1.5 x 106 cells/ml;
doubling time of ca. 50-60 hours;
frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 5 x 106 cells/ampoule;
negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization, PCR assays;
Validated by: cytogenetics 1 (near tetraploid without sharp mode, 6% polyploidy; 89-95<4n>) * DNA fingerprinting (unique Hinf I-(gtg)5 DNA profile) * immunological analysis (CD3- CD13- CD14- CD15+ CD19- CD33-) * isoenzymes (confirmed as human with IEF of AST, MDH, NP) * reverse transcriptase (reverse transcriptase negative)
