NCTC 135 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Horse Serum (HS). Split confluent cultures 1:2 to 1:4 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using mechanical techniques, such as scraping; 5-10% CO2; 37C. Change media every 3 days. Freeze in 9% glycerol/91% FBS.
Karyotype: 2n = 40; Modal No. 40-42
Derived from mouse liver cell line NCTC 721 which was obtained from normal liver of a 2 day old C3H/An mouse. The cells have been used in biochemical and nutritional studies. The cells are susceptible to VSV (Indiana strain).
