Medium 199 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:2 to 1:4 i.e. seeding at 5x10,000 to 3x100,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37C. NB: this line is extremely sensitive to trypsin.

Derived from kidneys taken from New Zealand white rabbits. The cells are susceptible to a range of viruses including rubella, vaccinia and herpes. Rubella replicates to a high titre.
