This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
SPECIES: mouse, DBA
TUMOR: leukemia, lymphocytic

Morphology: single round, lymphoblast-like cells in suspension
Transformed by: Chemical Agent Back To Chemical Agents' WebPage
Description: mouse lymphocytic leukemia established from the methylcholanthrene-induced tumor in a DBA strain mouse (subline 212, 8-month-old female) in 1949; the cells were propagated by heterotransplantation into DBA/2 mice; an in-vitro suspension culture was first reported in 1966; cells are used for cytotoxicity studies confirmed as mouse with IEF of AST, MDH, NP, PEP B
Viruses: ELISA: reverse transcriptase positive
Depositor: obtained from ATCC (CCL 219), Rockville, Maryland, USA
Available in the following LABORATORY:
German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ, Braunschweig)
90% Dulbecco's MEM + 10% horse serum maintain at 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml; split 1:2 to 1:4 every 1-2 days; seed out at ca. 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml at 37C with 5% CO2 maximum density at about 2.0 x 106 cells/ml;
doubling time of ca. 50 hours;
frozen with 70% medium, 20% horse serum, 10% DMSO at about 5 x 106 cells/ampoule;
negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization, PCR assays;
Validated by: cytogenetics 1 (hypodiploid karyotype; 39(36-42), with about 75% polyploidy; about 77% of cells carry one or more rearrangements) * isoenzymes (confirmed as mouse with IEF of AST, MDH, NP, PEP B)
