This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).

Available in the following LABORATORY:
Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Maintain cultures between 100,000 to 1,000,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37C.
Karyotype: 2n = 46
Established from pleural effusion of 53 year female with chronic myelogenous leukaemia in terminal blast crisis. Population highly undifferentiated and of the granulocytic series. Can be used as a highly sensitive target for the in vitro natural killer assay. Recent studies have shown the K562 blasts are multipotential, hematopoietic malignant cells that spontaneously differentiate into recognisable progenitors of the erythrocyte, granulocyte and monocytic series.
