This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected.
By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
SPECIES: mouse, Swiss-Webster
ECACC catalog code: 90110520
Description: Mouse Swiss-Webster myoblast
Viruses: See Properties
Depositor: Obtained from ATCC, USA
No restrictions. Patent: None Specified By Depositor
Properties: Applications: Tumourigenicity studies
Available in the following LABORATORY:
Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Horse Serum (HS) + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:4 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-2x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin in Ca2+ + Mg2+-free PBS; 5% CO2; 37C. Myotubes are formed at confluence. This is assisted by reducing both sera to 4%.
Derived from a muscle tissue culture of a foetal Swiss-Webster mouse. Tumorigenic and only slightly sensitive to acetylcholine. When confluent cultures form short multinucleated myotubes.
Research council deposit: No;
Price Code: C;
Validated by: isoenzymes (species confirmation)
